Do any of these thoughts sound familiar? They certainly used to come out of my mouth too. Hey mama, I’m Jolyn, but you can call me Jo. I am a certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor and intuitive eating coach in Kitchener, ON. I help moms heal their relationship with food, body image and movement so that they can find peace, feel confident, and live in a way their children could respect and follow.
My passion is to guide you into becoming the expert of your own body
After being in the fitness industry, I started to see how women were chasing 'thinness' more than they were chasing health. I started to see how people were finding their self-worth in their body-image and realized that it wasn't their fault! We have been raised in a fatphobic culture that praises 'thin' and has a standard of beauty that is so hard to reach that 95% of women are 'unsatisfied' with their bodies.
I create a supportive and safe environment that is weight and ability inclusive, and I help you get to the root behind your limiting beliefs surrounding body image, food and even exercise. I help my clients get unstuck and find their motivation from within.
My coaching philosophy is rooted in evidence-based Intuitive Eating & body image research (HAES approach). I am CANFITPRO PT certified and Core Confidence Specialist certified through Pelvienne Wellness.
Beyond coaching, I am a mom of two, and a wife to an amazing man who introduced me to rock climbing in 2011, and I’ve never looked back. We took our love of rock climbing and made a honeymoon road trip climbing across the States. I love non-fiction, bold coffee, playing piano & singing, and yes, I am a big kid at heart (I still fantasize about having a multi-level slide, monkey bars and a fireman’s pole in my house).

I started working with Jolyn in October 2020. In a short amount of time, I can honestly say she's changed my life. She has helped me develop a much healthier relationship with food and exercise- one that isn't led by guilt and shame but enjoyment and experience instead. I have a lot of work to do still on this journey but I feel so supported by Jolyn. Deconstructing so much of what I thought about health and fitness has been hard but SUCH a beautiful process. It can be an incredibly vulnerable thing to open up to someone about your relationship to your body, food, exercise, etc but she makes it so safe. It's been emotional at times and she's walked alongside me. If you're thinking about asking Jolyn to train you, I highly recommend it. It's a life changing experience. 💕
Jolyn is so positive and encouraging. I look forward to working out with her twice a week. I love how she encourages participants to listen to their body and offers lots of suggestions for adapting the workout. Even on Zoom, due to the pandemic, the class feels personal and interactive.
Highly recommend Jolyn Martin Fitness. Her classes are fun and motivating and always changing things up. We are an encouraging group and lift each other up. Our Tuesday and Thursday night classes are a ton of fun. Jolyn is fantastic. I always end the class feeling better than when I arrived.
